Healthy and unhealthy relationships
Relationships with others can be really positive, whether they are friendships, romantic relationships or sexual relationships.
When we find someone we have things in common with, or we're attracted to, we want to spend time with them and get to know each other.
Positive, healthy relationships are built on mutual trust, respect and appreciation for each other, where both people are equal and feel happy and safe around each other.
However, sometimes relationships can become unhealthy and make us feel unsafe or even put us at risk.
If someone makes you feel bad, treats you badly, is abusive or aggressive or asks you to do things you're not comfortable with - that is an unhealthy relationship and can affect your safety, self-esteem and mental wellbeing.
