Symptoms/Concerns

  • If you have symptoms or concerns, please call 0300 020 0027 and select option 2 between 8-8:30am (Monday to Friday)  
  • You will be placed on the Triage list for a call back the same day, where your needs will be assessed and the appropriate appointment will be made for you as either a telephone or face to face consultation.
  • Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee the time you will be called back.
  • If you miss your call back, we may not be able to call you back again.
  • Due to demand Telephone Triage may close early once the Triage list is full. If your call is "cut off" this means all our operators are busy, please dial again.

No Symptoms/Concerns

If you have no symptoms and wish for a routine check-up you can order a kit online here as long as you are aged 16 or over, under 16’s will need to make an appointment to be seen face to face.

Contraception

To make an appointment for Contraception please call the service (0300 020 0027 option 2) any time after 9am Monday to Friday and the appropriate appointment will be made for you as either face to face or over the phone. Please note that contraception appointments are made no more than 2 weeks in advance and due to demand the appointment availability can fluctuate. 

If you require Emergency Contraception please call 0300 020 0027 and select Option 2 and ask to speak to the Triage Nurse for advice, or you can search for your nearest Emergency Contraception Provider here.

Our Integrated Sexual Health Service can help you with care and advice on sexually transmitted infections and contraception in Coventry.

All services are completely free and confidential, including for under 16s. Services offered include clinic based appointments and drop in, outreach services out in the community and fully comprehensive HIV care.

Our services include:

  • Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) testing
  • Chlamydia testing
  • Contraception (pills, implants, coils etc.)
  • Emergency contraception
  • Free condoms
  • Pregnancy testing
  • HIV care
  • Psychosexual counselling
  • General sexual health advice

 

What to do when you arrive

Once you arrive at the clinic, please let reception know that you have arrived.

If you have a booked appointment your Doctor or Nurse will be notified of your arrival and you will be called from the waiting room.

If you are attending  drop in your needs will be assessed by a nurse to ensure that you are then seen by the most appropriate clinician.

Due to the fluctuating demands, you may have to wait to be seen but we will see you as quickly as possible. We will keep you updated on the duration of your possible wait.

Your information and confidentiality

Integrated Sexual Health Services (ISHS) Coventry is a completely free and confidential service.

We do not share your information with the hospital, your GP, any other health professional, family or friends. The only way anyone will know if you have attended any of our services is if you tell them. 

There may be times when we might need to pass on your confidential information is if there are concerns for your safety or the safety of others. Where possible we would discuss this with you first if it is safe to do so. 

When you register with us you will be given a unique clinic identity number, any tests that are completed are sent using this number and your date of birth only. We only use your name to call you from the waiting room. 

Absolute confidentiality is fundamental to our service.

Any information you give us via this site will be treated in the strictest confidence.

  • For booked appointments your time in clinic may vary between to 2-3 hours from the start time of your appointment, depending on the type of appointment.
  • For drop-in appointments your time in clinic can vary from 2-4 hours, depending on the fluctuating demands on this clinic.
  • Fast Track Clinic offers both booked and drop in appointments for patients with no symptoms or concerns.
  • Fast Track Clinic provides no examination - a self-taken swab/urine sample is completed for Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea, and blood tests are completed for HIV and Syphillis.

Please note: depending on the fluctuating demands on this clinic your wait time can vary between 30 minutes to 3 hours. We will try to see you as quickly as possible and will keep you updated on the duration of your wait where possible. If you do not wish to have a blood test, you can complete a 'Drop Off' Fast Track, where you complete a self-taken swab/urine sample for Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea only.  For the 'Drop Off' service you will be asked to complete and drop off your sample with reception.You will not see a clinician.

Saturday

Please note: The Saturday drop-in clinic is for patients with no symptoms and/or contraception only .The last booked appointment will be 40 minutes before the end of clinic. If you have urgent symptoms*, please refer yourself to the Walk-In Clinic. If you are concerned you have come into contact with HIV, please visit A&E out of hours. *Urgent symptoms include: acute abdominal pain, testicular pain, genital sores or blisters.

  • Contraception - Booked appointments and drop-in clinic
  • Fast track screening/peace of mind screen - For patients with no symptoms and for those who require sexual health advice

Sunday

Please note: The Sunday service is available on alternate Sundays, for booked contraception appointments only.

 

Opening times of drop-in clinics

Please note: 

If you are attending the drop-in service during the advertised times, please be aware that this will be for an assessment of your need and the offer of an appropriate appointment, which may mean that you will not be seen on that day for treatment. 

At times of high demand you may experience a wait of up to 4 hours, and a clinic may close early due to high demand and when available slots have been filled. 

Under 16s can attend clinics without parental consent but we advise speaking with a parent before attending. 

You may register for a weekday morning drop-in clinic from 8.00am for Triage to start at 8:30am, weekday afternoon sessions please arrive at least 15 minutes before the start of clinic. 

Drop-in clinics run on a first come, first seen basis and have a limited number of slots depending on service capacity of that session.

*The trust is not responsible for paying car parking fees if we are unable to see you the same day*
